Durham Kennel Club (DKC), in cooperation with the Carolina Freestyle Guild, offers a monthly two hour drop-in CanineFreestyle DogWork Class at the DKC Building. It is a two hour class, beginning at two pm on one Saturday most months. The cost is $15 for each class. These classes will be aimed toward newcomers who have not shown in Freestyle before. However, experienced handlers do participate and there will be time after class for practicing and run-throughs. If you are interested in attending, contact Dee Wallis, Deewallis@aol.com, Barbara Long, barbaralong815@msn.com, or Trish Koontz, pbkoontz@earthlink.net. For scheduling details, you can check the calendar here or on the Durham Kennel Club web site.
In addition, we occasionally schedule a series of classes at Durham Kennel Club in conjunction with other obedience and rally classes particularly for beginners, and there is DKC member work time to use the building for Freestyle practice; we set up a freestyle ring, with a sound system and have mentors available for cooperative training. Those times will be posted on the DKC Calendar and e-mails will be sent to DKC members on our regular mailing list.
Check events calendar for specific dates for these classes and other events. Send an e-mail to deewallis@aol.com if you are interested in being on the e-mail list to receive notices and reminders, or if you would like to join our Google discussion group.
